APPLE REMOVES CHRISTIAN APP CONDEMNING SOCIAL EVILS(From “Friday Church News Notes,” December 10, 2010, www.wayoflife.org firstname.lastname@example.org, 866-295-4143)The following is excerpted from Baptist Press, Dec. 3, 2010: “Conservatives are expressing shock and frustration after Apple pulled an iPhone/iPad ‘app’ from its online store that contained basic Christian beliefs on homosexuality and abortion. Although the move impacts only owners of iPhones and iPads, conservatives fear it is another indicator of where society is headed when it comes to critiquing core Christian values. The app — one of more than 200,000 applications, or software programs, in the app store — included the complete text of the Manhattan Declaration, a 4,700-word statement on the culture that about 150 evangelical, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox leaders signed last year and that more than 475,000 other people have since signed. …More than 35,000 people have signed a petition at ManhattanDeclaration.org asking Apple to reinstate the app. The application was pulled after 7,700 members of the liberal website Change.org e-mailed Apple and asked the company to remove it, which Apple did in late November.Apple has since told ABC News, ‘We removed the Manhattan Declaration app from the App Store because it violates our developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.’ …In a summary paragraph, the Manhattan Declaration says: ‘[W]e will not comply with any edict that purports to compel our institutions to participate in abortions, embryo-destructive research, assisted suicide and euthanasia, or any other anti-life act, nor will we bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family. We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. But under no circumstances will we render to Caesar what is God’s.’”CONCLUSION FROM BRO. CLOUD: I generally like Apple products but the downside is the dictatorial control it maintains over everything. The pulling of the Christian declaration is not surprising, of course. As a corporation Apple is godless like the vast majority of corporations in this present world and is certainly not a friend of the truth. To avoid such things we would have to go out of the world and avoid most commercial activities (1 Corinthians 5:9-11). Thank God, a new world is coming in which “dwelleth righteousness.”——————-So Apple succumbs to removing the app because of a “document” included in the app that outlined moral issues that are clearly stated in the Bible. What will Apple do when the same or similar complainers demand that Bible apps themselves be removed (which contain the scriptures the above moral declarations are based on)? Hmmm?“If they hated me,” the Lord said, “they will hate you also…” & everything His Word stands for.So WE “can take it” because we have been prepared by the Lord to know things would turn out this way in this anti-God world. But why are the complainers such whimps that they cannot cope with differing opinions? The Devil truly is a coward. And he obviously doesn’t prepare very well those he has duped to be able to cope with those of us who disagree with them. Their “best shot” is to “bury the evidence.”What are they so afraid of?Reality & Truth, that’s what./bgSource:
